Location: 100% Remote (Reporting to Norwalk, CA)
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 Annually + ESOP Equity

About the Opportunity:

Are you a commercially-minded, data-driven problem solver who loves uncovering hidden profitability?

At Pacific States Petroleum, Inc. (PSPI), California’s premier on-site fueling leader, we are proudly a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP). That means when you optimize our margins and drive company profitability, you are directly building your own wealth.

We are looking for a Sales Operations & Margin Analyst to act as the analytical engine behind our sales team. In this cross-functional remote role, you won't just pull reports—you will turn complex financial and customer data into actionable insights, identify opportunities for margin enhancement, and empower our Account Managers to win.

If you are an Excel wizard who wants your work to have a visible, daily impact on the bottom line, we want you on our team!

How You Will Make an Impact:

Optimize Margins & Profitability

  • Uncover Hidden Revenue: Deep-dive into customer account data to spot trends in profitability, volume, and product mix—presenting proactive recommendations for margin enhancement.

  • Track Asset ROI: Evaluate the return on investment for rental tanks and equipment by actively tracking usage and associated revenue.

  • Strategize for the Future: Conduct market research to uncover new customer segments and build highly targeted lead sheets.

  • Elevate Customer Success: Help develop a customer service scorecard to boost retention, and identify high-value accounts to support a strategic customer goodwill program.

Empower Sales Operations

  • Enable the Sales Team: Act as the primary strategic data partner for Account Managers, equipping them with clean, intuitive reporting (revenue by customer, product type, and rep) for high-stakes customer meetings.

  • Manage the Funnel: Intelligently route inbound leads and call-ins to the right sales reps to maximize conversion rates.

  • Measure Success: Partner with the Sales Manager to compile vital performance data for 1-on-1s, and track the ROI of targeted sales contests and initiatives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the billing department to ensure sub-hauler invoices are received and processed efficiently.

What You Bring to the Table:

Must-Haves:

  • Experience: 2–5 years in a role focused on sales operations, financial analysis, pricing, or revenue data analytics.

  • Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (you must be highly comfortable with complex formulas, modeling, pivot tables, and large datasets).

  • Analytical Problem Solving: A proven ability to quickly spot data discrepancies, identify anomalies in customer profitability, and build actionable solutions.

  • Communication Skills: The ability to translate complex financial jargon into clear, actionable insights for sales teams and leadership.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in financial reporting and the ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.

Bonus Points (Not required, but we’ll love you for it!):

  • Previous experience in petroleum, distribution, logistics, or related industries.

  • Familiarity with CRM software, SQL, or Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Why You’ll Love Working at PSPI:

  • You Are an Owner: We invest in your future with our Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), making you a part-owner of the company.

  • 100% Paid Healthcare: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance premiums are 100% paid for by the company for employees.

  • Retirement: A 401(k) plan with a 3% company contribution to help you save on top of your ESOP equity.

  • Real Flexibility: Work 100% remotely while staying highly connected to a collaborative, supportive team.

  • Work-Life Balance: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays, FSA accounts, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
